Pixies will return to Australia in 2020 for a special performance of their debut EP ‘Come On Pilgrim’ and first album ‘Surfer Rosa’.
The EP (or as it was called then mini-album) ‘Come On Pilgrim’ (it had eight tracks) was released in October 1987. The released featured two songs in Spanish (‘Vamos’ and ‘Isla de Encanta’ and two that mention incest ‘Nimrod’s Son’ and ‘The Holiday Song’. There were also four songs specifically about Religion )‘Caribou’, ‘Nimrod’s Son’, ‘The Holiday Song’ and ‘Levitate Me’).
‘Surfer Rosa’ was made on a budget on $10,000. Producer Steve Albini received $1500 for his work and no further royalties. The album was such an influence on Kurt Cobain that he chose Albini as the producer for ‘Nevermind’.
Pixies will tour Australia for Live Nation.
