Adele is reportedly considering a “pop-focused” album.
The 26-year-old singer has been keeping her head down since releasing her last record, 21, in 2011.
Since then she’s become a mother, giving birth to her first child, baby boy Angelo, with her boyfriend Simon Konecki in 2012.
But now Adele is gearing up to release album 25, with fans desperate for updates. British newspaper The Sun claims she’s been working with producer-and-writer Greg Kurstin, whos helped stars such as Lily Allen, Ellie Goulding and Kelly Clarkson record hits. It could be a sign Adele, whos known for her ballads, will offer something more upbeat.
‘Greg’s a genius and one of the powers behind many pop hits,” an insider told the publication.
‘But it’s a huge surprise he’s working with Adele because it suggests she’s considering taking a much more pop-focused direction for her new record.
‘She’s also had some serious concerns about the quality of her new album, so this is an indication that she wants a proven hit-maker on board.
‘She knows the whole world is waiting for her new music and wants it to be perfect.’
It would be a change of direction for Adele, as The Sun previously claimed she was working on the record with Blur’s Damon Albarn. But while Greg is very pop, he does have some serious music know-how, having toured with Beck and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Adele had followers excited earlier this year when she tweeted the album would be ready before the end of 2014, but now it’s scheduled for next spring.
So far, she has worked with the likes of Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic. She also asked Phil Collins to contribute, although he’s since said it never came to fruition.
