Rapper Post Malone has been left disgusted by some Twitter users who joked about his possible death online after he was involved in a mid-air plane scare.
Post Malone was among the 16 passengers on board the Gulfstream Aerospace GLF-4, which took off from Teterboro Airport in New Jersey just before 11am local time on Tuesday, en route to Luton, England.
However, shortly after take-off, two of the plane’s tyres exploded, forcing the pilot to circle back and alert air traffic control officials he would be performing an emergency landing.
He was initially instructed to head for Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport in Massachusetts to burn off more fuel for a safer possible crash landing, but was subsequently diverted to Stewart International Airport, located north of New York City.
The pilot was able to land the aircraft without incident hours later, much to the relief of Malone’s fans, who had been sending him prayers via social media.
Some even raced to the airport to watch the plane arrive, but not every tweet was positive – others shared sick posts hoping to witness a fiery crash landing, and after he was back on solid ground, Malone spoke out about the plane scare on Twitter.
“i landed guys. thank you for your prayers,” he wrote, before taking aim at his haters.
“can’t believe how many people wished death on me on this website,” he added. “fuck you. but not today (sic)”.
Malone’s manager, Dre London, also took to social media to breathe a sigh of relief: “Landed safely guys. Seriously,” he said in a video clip taken onboard the plane. “Been circling the air for hours but we’re good, we’re good. We landed safely.”
Tuesday’s air scare came hours after Post Malone performed at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards in New York with 21 Savage and Aerosmith. The tattooed rapper also picked up the Song of the Year trophy at the ceremony for Rockstar.
Post Malone is scheduled to perform at the Leeds and Reading festivals in England over the weekend (24-25Aug18), before he heads to Paris on Sunday for the Rock en Seine event.
