‘Let’s Get It On – The Life And Music Of Marvin Gaye’ is set for a two week run at Melbourne’s Atheneum Theatre.
The show is the latest from Room 8 Productions who produced the successful ‘Etta James – At Last’ show with Vika Bull last year.
Marvin Gaye was Motown’s first real star. He was called The Prince of Motown after establishing the label with some of its greatest and most enduring hits like ‘I Heard It Through The Grapevine’, ‘How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)’ and ‘Let’s Get It On’.
On April 1, 194 at around 11:38am Gaye was shot to death by his very own father. He was pronounced dead at 1:01pm.
Room 8 Productions have previously told the story of Johnny Cash with Tex Perkins, Bon Scott with Nick Barker, John Denver with Rick Price, Eva Cassidy with Clare Bowditch and the recent Etta James story, as told by Etta James.
‘Let’s Get It On – The Life And Music Of Marvin Gaye’ will star Bert LaBonte and introduces Jude Pearl accompanied by the Funk City Band.
The season will commence for a two week run at Melbourne’s Atheneum on May 13.
