Prince has decided to play six “surprise” shows as the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis staring tonight and running through Friday with each night dedicated to a different purpose.
Tonight’s (Wednesday) shows are meant as an audition for a new drummer for his band and will include mostly improvisational music. Thursday night will be a jam session that hearkens back to one of his many after-show parties. Finally, Friday is “surprise” shows with little known as to the format.
The singer/guitarist is very serious about one thing. He doesn’t want any pictures or sound to leak out from the shows. Ticket holders have been warned that “If you are caught with a phone, you will be removed from the venue by security – No exceptions.”
Tickets went on sale Tuesday and are sold out, including the Friday shows with prices ranging from $200 to $250.
