Prince has shared a brand new song ‘Baltimore’ as a tribute to the people of Baltimore caught up in riots in the past week.
Prince recorded the song at his Paisley Park Studio last Wednesday (May 6) as details about the death of Freddie Gray were revealed.
The lyrics of the song begin:
Nobody got in nobody’s way
So eye guess u could say
It was a good day
At least a little better than the day in baltimore
Does anybody hear us pray?
4 michael brown or freddie gray
Prince started work on the song as a demo on Wednesday night, playing every instrument on the song. The next morning the song was mixed by Joshua Welton and Kirk Johnson and then the female vocals from Eryn Allen Kane was added.
Prince was no present when Kane recorded her vocals after listening to the song twice. The final mix was then done by Dylan Drewdow and the result is the new Prince song ‘Baltimore’.
Prince will perform the Rally 4 Peace concert for Baltimore in Baltimore today. (May 10). The show will be streamed by Tidal.
