David Anderle, the record producer who worked on albums for Rita Coolidge, Aaron Neville and Kris Kristofferson, has died after a battle with lung cancer at age 77.
In the 50s Anderle went to school at Fairfax High in Melrose Ave, LA. His school mates includes Herb Albert and Lou Adler.
As a record executive in his early days one of Anderle’s first signings was Frank Zappa & The Mothers for Verve. He then moved to Elektra where he worked with Judy Collins.
The most fruitful sector of Anderle’s career came when Herb Albert and Jerry Moss started their new record label A&M Records (Alpert & Moss). Anderle drove recordings for Amy Grant, Chris De Burgh, Aaron Neville, Ozark Mountain Daredevils and Rita Coolidge in his tenure at the label.
Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss spoke to hitsdailydouble.com about the passing of their friend David Anderle.
“This is a sad day. We really thought he was gonna lick this thing,” said Alpert. “I have great memories of David; he was a special human being and a lovely person.”
Jerry Moss told Hitsdailydouble.com that David was “a great friend, and an even greater support system for all we were going for at A&M.”
Brian Wilson posted this on his Facebook page. “David Anderle passed away. I’m devastated beyond words. That’s just all I have to say. Love and Mercy. Your friend always”, Brian.
