Melbourne’s indie record store Pure Pop Records will hold encore performances of three classic album shows with Ashley Naylor, Hamish Cowan and Pony Face.
Over last summer, Pure Pop featured 74 classic album show with Australian musicians performing complete classic albums from start to finish.
Ashley Naylor will perform The Stone Roses self titled album, Hamish Cowan will play The Smiths ‘The Queen In Dead’ and Pony Face will feature Bruce Springsteen ‘Nebraska’ at The Toff In Town on Wednesday, August 28.
The original shows were performed in the courtyard of Pure Pop Records in St Kilda but with the limited capacity only 49 people saw each show.
Dave Stevens of Pure Pop reports “Ashley Naylor’s solo performance of The Stone Roses seminal debut was mindblowing. For this show he is assembling a band to back him and knowing the calibre of musicians he rubs shoulders with, it could raise the mindblowing stakes to a new high.”
“Hamish Cowan (Cordrazine) is an unabashed Smiths tragic. He performed their classic The Queen Is Dead with one of the most amazing vocal performance of the Summer. Can’t wait to hear this one again. He is also putting together a crack team of musos to back him”.
“Pony Face gave us Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska and it clicked like magic. Bringing their layered, moody soundscape style to The Boss’s acoustic cassette demo album was a masterstroke”.
Tickets for the Classic Album Encore are available from Moshtix for $18.30 plus booking fee.
