A Push Over Pop Up Stage during Melbourne’s Moomba has been announced to replace the cancelled Push Over Festival.
The Push Pop Up Stage will feature Triple J’s Unearthed Artist of the Year Remi and Sydney MC Chance Waters along with Melbourne’s The Smith Street Band.
The Moomba event line-up is The Smith Street Band, Chance Waters, Remi, and FReeZA Push Start finalists Alkali Fly (Croydon), Baking Blind (Dingley), Residual (Geelong), Darcy Fox (Moe), Listerdale (Wodonga), The Rims (Alphington), Bel Air (Ballarat), Worship The Fallen (Mildura) and Great John Himself (Airport West).
On Monday the Push Over Festival was officially cancelled due to poor ticket sales. “We are disappointed to see ticket sales down on previous years, however we know we’re in the middle of a very tough summer music festival season. It’s now time to revamp the model for the future. We apologise to the artists who have made a commitment to Push Over and to the music fans who have purchased tickets. Refunds are available at the point of sale. ”
For 21 years Push Over was the festival of choice for Australian independent bands. Silverchair, The Living End, Killing Heidi and Spiderbait have all played at a Push Over festival in their early days.
The Push Pop Up Stage at the Moomba Festival can be found at the Speakers Corner, Birrarung Marr behind Federation Square on the Yarra River on March 10 from 1pm-9.30pm.
