Qantas Christens Plane After Icehouse Song Great Southern Land

Icehouse are in Seattle today for the launch of the new Qantas Dreamliner named ‘Great Southern Land’ after the Icehouse classic.

The name ‘Great Southern Land’ came from 45,000 suggestions from the public. Eight Dreamliners will be named after Australian people, places and literature.

“Greetings from Seattle!!

“Iva and Paul were present with their good friend, William Barton, to perform at the unveiling of the new Qantas DreamLiner named Great Southern Land.

“It is an honour to have the first of the DreamLiners named after Iva’s song. Iva and the band thank Qantas and the Australian public for choosing the name”.

Icehouse performed ‘Great Southern Land’ at the ceremony.
