Attrell ‘Prince Be’ Cordes of P.M. Dawn has died from kidney disease at the age of 46.
Attrell formed PM Dawn with his brother Jarrett in 1988. They were the stepsons of George Brown of Kool & The Gang.
PM Dawn’s 1991 album ‘Of the Heart, of the Soul and of the Cross: The Utopian Experience’ generated the hit ‘Set Adrift on Memory Bliss’, a no 1 song in the USA and no 7 in Australia. The song sampled Spandau Ballet’s ‘True’
‘Looking Through Patient Eyes’ in 1993 peaked at no 20 in Australia. That song samples George Michael’s ‘Father Figure’.
Prince Be had been unwell for more than a decade. He had a stroke in 2005 and also suffered from diabetes.
