R.I.P. Garry Shandling 1949-2016

Garry Shandling, the US comedian who achieved worldwide fame as talk-show host Larry Sanders on The Larry Sanders Show, has died at the age of 66.

Shandling collapsed at his home in the Hollywood Hills and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Garry Shandling lead a private live and rarely spoke about his relationships. While he never married, he was in along-term relationship with Linda Doucett, who played the part of Darlene in his TV show The Larry Sanders Show. Their relationship ended in 1994.

The Larry Sanders Show ran for 89 episodes from 1992-1998. The show features guest appearances from Elvis Costello, Robin Williams, kd lang and Colin Hay.

Before The Larry Sanders Show, Shandling had a four year run with ‘It’s Garry Shandling’s Show’ from 198601990. He also played himself in an episode of ‘The X-Files’ in 2000. David Duchovny was a regular on ‘The Larry Sanders Shows.
