Israeli singer Abi Ofarim, best known for the 1968 hit ‘Cinderella Rockefella’, has died in Munich at age 80.
‘Cinderella Rockefella’ was a number one hit in 1968. Abi recorded the song with his wife Esther.
The Carpenters often performed the song as part of their live shows in the early 1970s.

Abi and Esther Ofarim had their first hit in Germany with a cover of the Bee Gees ‘Morning Of My Life’.
Esther also got to perform the song with Tom Jones on his TV show.

Abi and Esther divorced in 1970 and Abi developed a drug and alcohol problem.
In 2004 Esther appeared in the Israeli film ‘Walk On Water’. In 2014 Abi was running ‘Jugendzentrum für Senioren’ (Youth Center for the Elderly) in Munich.
Abi died at age 80 following a long illness.
