John Warren Geils Jr was the leader of the J. Geils Band, best known for the no 1 global hit ‘Centrefold’.

Geils formed The J. Geils Band in 1967. They recorded their self-titled debut album for Atlantic Records in 1970 but were 11 albums in when global success started around 1980.

The album ‘Love Stinks’ gave the band a Top 40 hit with the title track.

The 12th album ‘Freeze Frame’ was the big one, going to no 1 in the USA and to date becoming the band’s biggest seller.

‘Freeze Frame’ contained ‘Centrefold’ as well as another hit song in the title track.
