Actor and radio star Jay Thomas has died after a battle with cancer at the age of 69.
Thomas worked on US radio from the mid-70s before moving to acting with his first TV role in 20 episodes of ‘Mork & Mindy’ between 1979 and 1981.
Throughout the 80s Thomas was a familiar guest actor on shows such as Family Ties, Cheers and The Golden Girls but scored major exposure as shock jock Jerry Gold on Murphy Brown between 1989 and 1998.
Songwriter J.T. Harding, who has written for Uncle Kracker, Blake Shelton, Dirks Bentley and Kenny Chesney, is his son.
