The great Jerry Lewis is dead. Lewis gave his last interview in 2016 and it was a trainwreck.

Lewis gave his last ever interview with Andy Lewis (no relation) from The Hollywood Reporter. Lewis was arrogant, he complained through the entire interview. Andy Lewis described the interview as “difficult” and while he said it was “awkward” he also described it as “pretty funny”.

You be the judge:

Jerry Lewis was a comedy legend. He found fame and fortune after meeting Dean Martin in 1946. The two comedians spent two years working radio before making their television debut in 1948 on Toast of the Town (The show was renamed The Ed Sullivan Show in 1955).

Martin and Lewis made 16 movies between 1950 and 1956. The partnership ended in July 1956 as the relationship strained. The pair reconciled in the late 80s following the death of Dean’s son Deal Paul Martin in 1987. Lewis appeared at Martin’s 72nd birthday wheeled in in a cake to sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to him.

Jerry Lewis would earn acclaim in a serious acting role in Martin Scorsese’s ‘The King of Comedy’.

Jerry Lewis died at his home in Las Vegas as 9:15am Sunday August 20, 2017.
