DJ and producer Robert Miles has died at the age of 47 in Ibiza, Spain.

Miles was best known for the 1995 hit ‘Children’. It was a number one hit all over Europe and peaked at number 21 in the USA. ‘Children’ sold over 5 million copies worldwide and earned Robert a BRIT Award. To date, he is the only Italian to ever win a BRIT.

Miles was born Roberto Concina to Italian immigrants Antonetta Lauro and Albino Concina in Fleuier, Switzerland on 3 November, 1969.

After ‘Children’, Miles scored more European hits with ‘Fable’, ‘One And One’ and ‘Freedom’ (featuring Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge).

His last album was his fifth album ‘TH1RT3EN’ in 2011.

In a statement to DJ Mag Italia Robert’s producer and friend Joe T. Vannelli said, “The tragic news of the death of a very talented artist of our time, makes me incredulous and upset.”

“With him also it is a part of my life as an artist manufacturer. I will miss the fights, brawls, criticism, judgements but especially your talent in finding sounds and melodies unparalleled.”

Italian media is reporting the death as the result of an existing disease.
