Heather Menzies-Urich, who played Louisa von Trapp in the 1965 film The Sound of Music, has died from brain cancer at the age of 68.
Louisa was the third oldest child of Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music.
Christopher Plummer, who played Captain von Trapp, paid tribute to his co-star in a tweet.

Heather was born in Toronto, Canada on December 3, 1949. Her first acting role was in the TV series The Farmer’s Daughter in 1964 before making her first movie ‘The Sound of Music’ the following year.
After The Sound of Music, Heather went on to make seven more movies including Disney’s ‘The Computer Wore Tennis Shoes’ alongside Kirk Russell and Caesar Romero in 1969. Heather starred as Jessica 6 in the sci-fi series ‘Logan’s Run’.
She also appeared on TV shows ‘Dragnet’, ‘Marcus Welby MD’, ‘Bonanza’, ‘Alias Smith and Jones’ and ‘The Love Boat’. Her last appearance was in ‘Spenser: For Hire’ in 1987.
In 1975 Heather married actor Robert Urich, who planned Dan Tanna in the hit TV series Vega$ from 1978 to 1981. Urich died from a rare cancer synovial sarcoma in 2002.
Heather was only diagnosed with cancer in November 2017. Three children and two grandchildren survive her.
