Wayne Cochran, the White Knight of Soul, has died in Florida at the age of 78.

Cochran was a close friend of James Brown, Otis Redding and Elvis Presley. Cochran had the jumpsuit look at Elvis liked and copied.

The Blues Brothers covered his signature song ‘Goin’ Back To Miami’ in their movie.

Pearl Jam covered his 1962 song ‘Last Kiss’.

Wayne broke up his band the CC Riders to start the Voice of Jesus Center and World Outreach church in Miami.

Wayne Cochran recorded his final album in 1972. He retired from music to become an evangelist in Miami, Florida. One of Wayne Cochran’s last television appearances was on Late Night with David Letterman in 1982.
