R. Kelly touring Australia? They’ve got to be kidding

Accused sexual predator R. Kelly is scheduled to tour Australia in 2019 but it is unclear if he has been granted a Visa.

While Kelly was once charged with 21 counts of child pornography and was also alleged to have been the person in a sex tape with an underage girl, he has never been convicted.

With a conviction a Visa to Australia would be unlikely but without a conviction Kelly may be free to enter the country.

The next question is who would want to see him?

Kelly is set to play some major outdoor venues. It is highly unlikely that he could fill a 1000 capacity venue let alone a place the size of Melbourne showgrounds.

A support has not been announced and the shows are eight weeks out with the Christmas and New Year break in between.

The tour is being presented by new company Big Music Tour Pty Ltd. In a statement to the Sydney Morning Herald the promoter justified the decision to tour the disreputable singer saying, “”Mr Kelly was cleared of all allegations and, in our view, you are innocent until proven guilty” which legally is correct. However, morally there is also the old saying “where there’s smoke there’s fire”.

TheMusic.com.au has discovered that some venues on the tour have not yet been booked.

R&B tours for Australia have a very high rate of cancellation. Ticket buyers should be cautious against purchasing a ticket to R. Kelly until it is 100% guaranteed that these shows will happen on these dates at these venues.

Right now, the venues are in question and it has not been confirmed if the Australian government has issued a Visa to Kelly.

Let the buyer beware.
