Philip Selway has posted on the Radiohead site about the loss of their drum technician in a freak stage collapse in Canada.
Drum tech Scott Johnson, who was working with Radiohead on their North American tour, died on Saturday when the scaffolding above the stage at Downsview Park in Toronto collapsed before their show.
Selway, the band’s drummer, wrote on the Radiohead site:
“We have all been shattered by the loss of Scott Johnson, our friend and colleague. He was a lovely man, always positive, supportive and funny; a highly skilled and valued member of our great road crew. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and love are with Scott’s family and all those close to him.”
The stage collapsed an hour before fans were to enter their Toronto show. NME reports that Canadian authorities will investigate the accident, which also injured three others.
