Carol Lloyd, the incredible blues voice of 70s Queensland band Railroad Gin, says she has maybe 12 months left to live.
Carol is suffering from Pulmonary Fibrosis, a scarring of the lung. Basically, her lungs are failing.
Carol Lloyd made a personal decision to throw her own farewell party with a concert in Brisbane last weekend. She also used the occasion to wed her partner Annie in a civil ceremony.
Carol Lloyd says she is also planning a book before for encore exit. “I’m going to call it Rock Chook. Cause I ain’t no chicken anymore” she told Ten News.
Railroad Gin formed in Brisbane in 1969. By 1973 they had become an eight-piece band. Railroad Gin released only one album ‘A Matter Of Time’ in 1975. It was a hit record in Brisbane but failed to chart in the rest of Australia. A remastered version of the album is now available on iTunes.
Railroad Gin have a plaque on Queensland’s Walk of Fame on Brunswick Street in the Fortitude Valley along with The Bee Gees, Savage Garden, Keith Urban and Powderfinger.
