The Rainbow Serpent Festival is expected to go ahead this weekend if a positive resolution with Pyrenees Shire in western Victoria is achieved today.
On Friday the 15-year-old Festival was facing stoppage for failing to satisfy council that it had a proper emergency plan in place in case of a disaster such as a bushfire.
The Rainbow Serpent Festival attracts around 15,000 people and is scheduled for this weekend, January 25-28. The event will feature performances from Diafrix, TZU, Blunderbuss and Gang of Brothers.
A final decision about the Rainbow Serpent Festival will be made at a meeting this afternoon.
A statement from organisers reads, “Everyone involved has worked very hard to bring about the best outcome which we believe is for the event to go ahead as planned, with the appropriate safety measures in place”.
