Country legend Randy Travis will plead guilty in an incident from last August in Sherman, TX where police found him by the side of the road, naked and over the legal alcohol limit, with his crashed car.
According to authorities at the time, Travis had hit some barriers in a construction zone and damaged his car. The singer was naked and “had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath and several signs of intoxication.” His blood alcohol level was measured at .15, almost twice the Texas limit of .08. He also allegedly threatened officers at the scene.
A prosecutor in Sherman has told the press that Travis will plead guilty in exchange for an undisclosed plea arrangement. The details will be released after Travis’ court appearance on Thursday. A source has said, though, that he will be charged with misdemeanor DUI which could bring a sentence of up to two years in jail and a fine of up to $4,000.
The plea does not include the charges of threatening the police, but reports say that the case is no longer on the books.
2012 was a bad year for Travis with the DUI, a case of public intoxication and a third incident where he was charged with simple assault after getting in the middle of a fight in a church parking lot.
