RATT Drummer Wins Rights To Band Name

After a five year legal battle, Bobby Blotzer has won the rights to use the name Ratt.

WBS, Inc., the company which owns the Ratt name, was originally formed by Blotzer, singer Stephen Pearcy and guitarist Warren DeMartini. Pearcy was forced to give up his share in the company in 2000 when he first left the band. Pearcy did return in 2006 but left again last year.

That left DeMartini and Blotzer with the rights to the name but DeMartini didn’t want to keep the band together if Pearcy was not part of it.

The new band is made up of Josh Alan (vocals), Scotty Griffin (bass), Blaze (guitar) and Doc Ellis (guitar).

On Wednesday, the band announced their plans via a press release and on the Ratt Facebook page:
RATT RE-INVASION TOUR 2016

From the band that brought some of the most well known rock anthems of the past 35 years and helped popularize the MTV MUSIC generation… RATT is “BACK FOR MORE” and will be performing shows from October- December 2015 and kicking off the North American leg of RATT’s “RE-INVASION TOUR” in 2016.

After a five year battle over trademark issues… doing everything he could to appease and re-assemble the band, BOBBY BLOTZER, the CEO of WBS, Inc. has taken control of the RATT brand and is taking his multi-platinum RATT back on the road, bringing fans the songs they love and shows they’ve missed… continuing to build upon RATT’s legendary legacy! RATT-N-ROLL FOREVER!

Current tour dates are scheduled with major swings through the Mid-West, Southeast, South, Northeast and Canada. Stay tuned for more cities and dates being added each day.
Dates announced so far are October 8 at G.B. Leighton’s Pickle Park in Fridley, MN and October 9 at The District in Sioux Falls, SD.

Blotzer is not an original member of Ratt, joining in 1982, the fifth in a series of drummers; however, he does appear on all of the band’s albums. The lineup for their debut album, 1984’s Out of the Cellar, was Pearcy, DeMartini and Blotzer along with Robbin Crosby on guitar and Juan Croucier on bass. Croucier was with the band from 1982 to 1992 and 2012 until the formation of this new band. Crosby was in Ratt from 1981 to 1991.
