Indian sitar virtuoso Ravi Shankar has died in a San Diego hospital at the age of 92.
Shankar was best known for his association with The Beatles, especially George Harrison. He performed for George at The Concert For Bangla Desh.
Ravi Shankar has won three Grammy Awards. He is the father of musicians Norah Jones and Anoushka Shankar.
Ravi was born Robindro Shaunkor Chowdhury in India in 1920. In 1956 he began touring Europe and America and also began teaching music. He taught George Harrison how to play sitar.
Ravi Shankar died at the Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego after complaining earlier of breathing difficulties.
