Triple J’s stalwart music programmer Richard Kingsmill is taking 6 months off.

Kingsmill has been with Triple J since 1988 when he joined the station as a producer.

In 1990 he went on air as a presenter for the first time and is now Triple J’s longest serving presenter.

He became music director in 2003 are original MD Arnold Frolows retired.

During his break Richard will be travelling and living overseas. Nick Findlay has stepped in as acting Music Director until Richard returns in July.

In other Triple J news from next Monday Linda Marigliano will join the station to host the evening show from 6pm weeknights. The format for the show will be different from previous years. Triple J says it will focus more on new music. Linda will strap on the headphones from 6pm next Monday January 16.
