Richard Marx was cooking up new music in Malibu over the weekend with the legendary Burt Bacharach.
“How I spent my Sunday afternoon: Recording a song I wrote with Burt Bacharach, singing along to Greg Phillinganes playing piano, at a gorgeous studio in Malibu. Didn’t suck”, Marx tweeted.

While he is not a household name Greg Phillinganes is one of the greatest session musicians of the past 40 years in the USA. He played on every Michael Jackson album from ‘Off The Wall’ in 1979to ‘Immortal’ in 2011. He was played on The Jacksons’ ‘Destiny’ (1979) and ‘Triumph’ (1980) as well as albums for Toto, Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder’s iconic ‘Songs In The Key Of Life’. More recently he played keyboards on Bruno Mars ‘24k Magic’ and live with David Gilmour for ‘Live At Pompeii’.
Richard dropped a hint to his newfound collaborator last week when he tweeted “Wife and I are currently cranking the Burt Bacharach catalog in our kitchen. It’s the right thing to do”.
