Rick Springfield has popped up on a pop song popping out a sultry version of Men At Work’s ‘Who Can It Be Now?’ for Armidale, New South Wales singer Cleo Alexandra.

Cleo was introduced to the Australian rock legend via her producer Keith Olsen. Olsen produced Springfield’s classic ‘Jessie’s Girl’.

Cleo says Rick brings a “very cool and sexy quality” to the song.

Cleo was born Stephanie Alexandra Murat. She grew up in Armidale, New South Wales and was first draw to music through rock acts. “I’ll never forget when I was introduced to bands like AC/DC and INXS or strong female rock singers like Stevie Nicks, Patti Smith and Janis Joplin. The impact they had on me was massive,” she said.

The Men At Work classic came from her Oz rock loving past. “When rummaging through old records I re-discovered ‘Who Can It Be Now’,” Cleo says at her website. “I remembered it being played around the house when I was younger and always loved knowing it was performed by an Australian band. When listening to the song again, the lyrics really struck me. I never noticed how dark and haunting they are. I knew straight away doing a cover of the song to emphasise the eeriness of the lyrics would be really cool, and with Ricks vocals adding another dimension to the track, it turned out even better then I could have ever possibly dreamed”.

‘Who Can It Be Now?’ by Cleo Alexandra featuring Rick Springfield was produced by Grammy-winning Keith Olsen and J.J. Farris. Olsen has worked with Fleetwood Mac, Ozzy Osbourne, Heart and Pat Benatar. Farris’ credits include Cher, Queenrÿche, Brandy and Warrant.
