Rick Wakeman will return to one of his greatest triumphs, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, via a series of 2014 concerts with the English Rock Ensemble and the Jules Verne Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.
The tour is to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the release of the album and will feature brand new sets designed by Roger Dean with state-of-the-art graphics and projections. The two-hour show will include material from the original album along with its sequel Return to the Centre of the Earth.
Journey to the Centre of the Earth was originally released in 1974 and was recorded live at Royal Albert Hall. It was the first number 1 album in the U.K. for A&M Records and reached number 3 in the U.S. Vocals on the original performance were done by the late Gary Pickford-Hopkins and Ashley Holt with narration by David Hemmings.
