Ricky Martin says becoming a father has changed his life completely.
Ricky MartinThe Puerto Rican-born star is father to Matteo and Valentino, twin boys born in August 2008 by Australian surrogate mother Liza Santolini.
Along with caring for his kids Ricky has been working on a comeback and promised his fans he will be releasing new music soon.
‘They’re amazing,’ Ricky beamed to deanpiper.com. ‘And they’re growing up so fast. They’ve changed my life completely and I can’t imagine my life without them. I’m always going to be a busy single father. I’ll do music and I’ll never stop on that. I’m writing all the time at the minute for the next album.”
Ricky is about to start work on new tracks and has also been penning a children’s book to be released next year. The openly-gay star joked that having his twin boys is great now he’s a writer as they will be useful for reading over his offerings in the future.
‘It’s handy having twins too, especially with the children’s book because they are the proofreading experts in this case,” he joked. “I can multi-task and I love everything I’m doing. I’ve always been full on and better working than not. The kids want me to be happy and I’m fine being this busy right now.’
Ricky is an active charity campaigner and is the face of MAC cosmetics AIDS fund generating line VIVA GLAM alongside Nicki Minaj. He gushed about fellow celebrity activist Angelina Jolie who is campaigning role model.
‘Angelina Jolie is my hero when it comes to speaking out and having a voice,” Ricky explained. “She’s taught Brad Pitt a lot about it and now they’re an amazing couple who fight for their beliefs.’
The super busy star is going to be a coach on the Australian version of The Voice early next year and he’s also signed a big deal with NBC to develop a ‘dramedy’ TV sitcom which he will pilot later in 2013.
Now he has been open about his sexuality, had his children and seen his career go from strength to strength he finally feels content.
‘Everything is so good in my life,’ Ricky continued. ‘I don’t have to prove anything to anybody. I lived quietly before I came out for many years and it was exhausting. I stopped being myself and it crushed me because I was trying to please people all the time. This part of my life is about feeling and sharing. For many years I would lie and say yes to everything ‘ but I wasn’t being healthy. I’ve learnt to say no and that’s important.’
