Ringo Starr has paid tribute to his friend Cilla Black who passed away in Spain on the weekend at age 72.
Cilla was a friend of Richard Starkey (aka Ringo Starr) before he was a Beatle when he was still with Rory Storm and the Hurricanes. She was occasionally the hairdresser to his mother. She was still Priscilla White when he was still Richard Starkey.
Cilla was managed by The Beatles manager Brian Epstein. It was Brian who changed Pricilla White’s name to Cilla Black, much to the disgust of her father.
In a tweet, the Beatles drummer posted, “I just heard the news Cilla black has left us she was a good friend we will all miss her peace to Cilla peace and love to the family R&B xxx”

John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote Cilla’s first single ‘Love Of The Loved”.
Cilla also had a hit with another Lennon and McCartney song ‘It’s For You’.
