Robert Vineberg, aka Robert Aaron, is one of four people arrested on Tuesday in the investigation into Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death.

Aaron has played saxophone and other instruments on albums by Blondie, David Bowie, Al Jarreau, Luscious Jackson, Tom Jones, Wyclef Jean and Amy Winehouse, among others.

The New York Daily News broke the story, saying that four people were arrested on Tuesday night in a “Manhattan drug den”, suspecting that the person who sold Hoffman the heroine on which he overdosed was among the four. A tip led police to the address where Hoffman allegedly had previously purchased drugs.

Arrested were Vineberg/Aaron, 57 and Thomas Kushman, 48, both on felony drug possession along with Max Rosenblum and Juliana Luchkiw, both 22, on misdemeanor drug possession.

Vineberg told reporters that he did not sell the drugs to Hoffman.

Vineberg/Aaron’s credits include horn arrangements and saxophone on Blondie’s 1982 album The Hunter and flute and sax on No Exit (1999), flute and vocals on David Bowie’s Let’s Dance (1983), flute, horn and keyboards on Mick Jagger’s Goddess in the Doorway (2001), horn arrangements and sax on Tom Jones’ Mr. Jones, flute and sax on Amy Winehouse’s Frank (2003) and numerous parts on a variety of albums by Wyclef Jean and Eric Andersen. He also released his own album, Trouble Man, in 2010.
