Robert Rigby, one of Australia’s most successful independent record label operators, has been appointed Executive Manager of The Voice for Universal Music Australia.
Rigby, a former Managing Director for Warner Music Australia, has built his independent empire with his music label Ambition, the home of the almost platinum selling Russell Morris ‘Sharkmouth’ album.
Ambition Entertainment and Fanfare Records are also the new music home of Wendy Matthews, Marina Prior, k.d. lang, Beccy Cole, Jon English and Jason Singh.
“We are excited to have Robert join Universal and head up The Voice, which already has established itself as one of the leading music brands in the market,” Universal Music Asia Pacific President George Ash said in a statement. “I know Robert will be invaluable to the brand and will take it to new levels of success. Robert has proven himself to be an expert at identifying opportunities for and with artists and I know his expertise will add real value to our broader A&R activities. I am thrilled to have Robert join our company and share with us his passion and energy for artist development”.
Rigby has worked with and developed the careers of Keith Urban, Michael Crawford, Screaming Jets and Taxiride.
In 2014 The Voice will run both an adults and kids series. “Robert has a rich professional history in television, branding, music and entertainment; he will bring great music passion and leadership into this new role,” Ash said.
Robert Rigby will work with Peter Karpin and Mercury Records for The Voice Australia.
