Robyn Hitchcock will perform Bob Dylan’s ‘The Basement Tapes’ from start to finish in Sydney Basement this Friday.
Friday, May 23 will mark Bob Dylan’s 73rd birthday.
Hitchcock has already appeared at two of the Bobfest shows in Melbourne last week and will honour Bob’s birthday with arguably one of the most famous bootleg records of all times.
Dylan’s original ‘The Basement Tapes’ were recorded in 1967 with The Band. The album was shelved and then widely shared as a bootleg record by fans. Songs from the unreleased album were covered by Peter, Paul & Mary, Julie Driscoll and Manfred Mann. In 1975, Columbia Records finally gave the record an official release.
Robyn Hitchcock will also perform a different Dylan show in Melbourne.
