The Rock The Granny petition has launched to persuade the AFL to present Australian artists for the pre-match entertainment at this year’s Grand Final in Melbourne.
The AFL has traditionally focused on international acts to perform at the Grand Final. Previous years have seen the abortive performance by Meat Loaf and the totally bland performance by Lionel Ritchie. In 2014, the quality improved with Tom Jones and Ed Sheeran but still the opportunity to present great Australia talent to the nation did not happen.
Kiss were announced to play the AFL Grand Final Footy Show today.
Rock The Granny proposes to “Make the AFL Grand final pre-match entertainment homegrown again”. The petition asks, “Let’s promote to the world Australia’s amazing new musical talent on our biggest sporting stage and get Pond, King Gizzard and Lizard Wizard and Bad Dreems to perform live. #rockthegranny”.
After 24 hours more than 1000 people signed the Rock The Granny petition at Change.org. Add you name here.
