Actor Benicio del Toro enjoys going to Disneyland with Rod Stewart, much to his friends’ amazement.
The 48-year-old actor has four-year-old daughter Delilah with Kimberly Stewart, whose father is rocker Rod. Although Benicio and Kimberly aren’t together romantically they raise their little girl together, meaning the Traffic actor has got to know Rod very well.
In fact, they’ve even been known to attend the world famous American theme park together.
“Who would have thought it’ I told a friend from school and he goes, ‘Bro, if I’d told you, “I see in your future that you’ll go to Disneyland with Rod Stewart,” you would have said, “No way,”‘” Benicio laughed to Port magazine.
Benicio and Kimberly weren’t together when Delilah was born, but that hasn’t stopped the actor forming a strong bond with his daughter. He calls the tot his “number one”, but admits he wasn’t prepared for how wholly she would change his life.
Luckily Benicio has been able to call on a host of people for parenting tips. Among them is Rod, 70, who is a father of eight. Rod’s youngest son Aiden, who he has with his wife Penny Lancaster, was born just six months before Delilah entered the world, and he’s been happy to share some of his wisdom with Benicio.
It’s not all so serious though, the two guys also enjoy some friendly rivalry – not least when it comes to the amount of awards they’ve racked up during their respective careers.
“I might pull the Oscar out to show to my daughter. Grandpa has a lot of stuff, but he ain’t got one of those,” Benicio giggled.
Kimberly has previously spoken of how she and the actor share parenting duties, explaining that raising their child to be well adjusted is the most important thing to them.
“When she arrived I just wanted to be with her, figure it out between us and be the best mum that I could be. She’s the greatest thing in my life,” she told Hello! magazine.
“She’s sassy and has great manners ‘ I really instilled that from a young age ‘ so she’s always saying ‘please’ and ‘thank you’.”
