Legendary singer songwriter Rodriguez has been announced as one of the acts for Berry’s Fairgrounds Festival in December.
The life of 74-year old Rodriguez was portrayed in the 2012 documentary Searching For The Sugarman.
Rodriguez was somewhat of a mystery after recording only two albums ‘Cold Fact’ (1970) and ‘Coming From Reality’ (1971). The two albums went unnoticed until played for the first time on Australian radio on Sydney’s then 2JJ (now Triple J) by announced Holger Brockman.
The movie Searching For The Sugarman was wrapped around a premise that South African fans thought Rodriguez was dead despite has newfound fame and touring in Australia.
Fairgrounds is on 2 and 3 December 2016 in Berry NSW.
