UK grime collective Roll Deep (which has included Wiley, Dizzee Rascal, Tinchy Stryder) announce a new album.
The ground-breaking Roll Deep crew have been a seminal instigator of UK grime, two-step and hip-hop, seeing superstars Wiley, Dizzee Rascal, Tinchy Stryder, Skepta and others pass through their ranks.
The current line-up features FlowDan, Brazen, Manga, J2k, Target, Scratchy, DJ Karnage, and singer Tania, and will release their sixth studio album X.
It has been preceded by the pop-crossover hit Winner Stays On in 2010, featuring the UK chart-topping Good Times’ (featuring Jodie Connor) and ‘Green Light’, and the top 40 single ‘Take Control’ (featuring Alesha Dixon).
FlowDan says that the rotating cast “has made Roll Deep Roll Deep.” He notes, “We don’t have one definitive sound, and we’ve always evolved, because we come from different backgrounds and have vast interests in music that can’t help influencing our sound.”
X will be released on October 19 through Cooking Vinyl and Shock. Check out the first single from it, ‘Picture Perfect’, below.
