Ross Hannaford was an inspiration to so many musicians across Australia but in Melbourne he was revered as one of the greats.
Everyone who know Ross Hannaford and worked with him had the utmost respect for his talents and humbled by his personality.
These comments come from three of Ross’s closest friends from July 2015 at the Concert For Hanna.

I first met my friend Ross Hannaford 50 years ago. I remember the first rehearsal we had for Daddy Cool Ross just blew me away. Ever since he has inspired me so much. He is a very inspirational person. I love you Ross.

Ross and I met at art school a very long time ago. We were still teenagers. We stayed friends. We were creative friends, we did art, we did music, we have written songs. It just endured. Like everyone else I just think he is an incredible talent and I was very pleased that he was in my world, our world … everyones.

I’ve known Ross Hannaford for many, many years. I played with him for a couple of years in succession in The Part Machine between 1967 and 1969. I played bass and he was an inspirational guitarist then. I just loved his playing. I think I was there in the growing years. I grew about five inches while he was with the band. I always thought for such a young bloke he had an amazing licks to play. It was almost like he invented them on the spot. He could make non-selective notes sounds significant. He is just one of those one-off guitarists and he is definitely a one-off guy.
