When Daddy Cool released ‘Eagle Rock’ in May 1971 The Beatles had only broken up five months earlier. ‘Eagle Rock’ was 45 years ago and even then Wilson was onto his third or fourth band.
Compiling Ross Wilson’s Greatest Hits onto one CD must have been excruciatingly difficult. Ross is without a doubt one Australia’s most durable recording and performing artists.
Pre-Daddy Cool there were The Pink Finks, The Party Machine and Sons of Vegetal Mother. Post Daddy Cool there was Mighty Kong, Mondo Rock and his solo work.
Its impossible to put a Ross Wilson Greatest Hits onto one record so for the sake of the argument lets just call this one Volume One.
The newly packaged Ross Wilson Greatest Hits includes ‘I Come In Peace’, co-written with Rick Brewster of The Angels. The song was also covered by Joe Cocker. Ross Wilson Greatest Hits is available from his website.
