The family of Roy Orbison has a new enterprise that is aiming to bring rare recordings of live shows to the singer’s fans.

Mercy Records will sell the recordings through royorbisonlive.com with their first release being Live at Reseda Country Club 1981.
The Reseda concert was found in the Orbison archives, a gift from the man who recorded it, Mickey McNeil, to Roy’s brother Sam. McNeil had originally recorded it for his own enjoyment but felt that the Orbison family might like to have the tape.
In an interview with the Cape Bretton Post, McNeil said “I figured who better to give it to than Roy’s brother. In the emails and conversations since, the family said there are about 250 diehard Rob Orbison fans looking for old original concerts that Roy did.”
That campaign is now official as the following has been posted on the Roy Orbison site:
The label is planning on compensating anyone who submits a tape that is eventually used for a release. People interested can check out details at Roy’s page.
