The rumour mill went into overdrive today with speculation that Radiohead and/or The Stone Roses were coming to Australia for Splendour In The Grass. It was completely made up and false information.
The Splendour In the Grass organisers have taken to Twitter to set the record straight. “Re speculation about Radiohead @SITG this year, we’d like to officially dispel these rumours, unfort they’re not playing Splendour 2012,” the statement reads.
The stories started after one publication put 2 and 2 together and came up with 53 when Radiohead were announced for announced for Fuji Rock 2012 and therefore it was automatically assumed by the publication that because they were only going to be 10 hours away from Australia then obviously they would come here too.
That was the second Radiohead rumour in a week. It is also speculated they may tour Australia later in the year after a New Zealand tweeted that he wouldn’t be home until the Radiohead tour later in the year.
The Stone Roses were also reported as playing Splendour like it was a done deal. “And while we’re here … brace yourselves …ditto for The Stone Roses, they won’t be playing Splendour 2012 either,” the Splendour peeps said.
