There have been Spice Girls reunion rumors in so many forms and configurations the past few years that we’re not sure what to believe but, according to Britain’s NME, all five members are looking to record a new album next year and do a TV special.
The most recent reunion was something called GEM which was supposed to include Mel B (Melanie Brown), Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell with Victoria Beckham and Melanie Chisholm sitting out but Halliwell’s pregnancy was said to have deep sixed any immediate plans.
NME is reporting, via the Sun, that “The five of them have been locked in secret talks since the summer, and finally they are all on-board for a 2018 reunion. As it stands, they will be working together on a series of projects, which will include an album and a TV special celebrating the Spice Girls.”
The Sun’s source added “Getting Victoria to agree has been a coup for everyone involved, given she has always been the person holding back on a reunion.”
The five Spice Girls were originally together from 1994 to 2000 scoring worldwide hits with songs like “Wannabe”, “Say You’ll Be There”, “2 Become 1” and “Spice Up Your Life”. They reunited for a tour in 2007 and performed for the closing ceremony of the London Olympics in 2012.
