Russell Morris received his gold record award for ‘Sharkmouth’ at The Today Show on Friday.
Entertainment editor Richard Wilkins and the crew from The Today Show gave Russell his first gold record in over 40 years for more than 35,000 sales of ‘Sharkmouth’.
‘Sharkmouth’ officially passed the 35,000 sales benchmark two months ago and is now closer to achieving platinum sales (70,000).
The legendary Russell Morris, one of Australia’s biggest pop stars of the late 60s, early 70s, is already working on a follow-up to ‘Sharkmouth’. The next instalment will be a sequel of songs telling the story of Australia’s colourful character of the past in blues. Morris is already performing the new song ‘Bendigo Blues’ in his current set.
Russell and Robert Rigby from Russell’s label fanfare also awarded Aussie music industry identity Brian ‘Frog’ Harris with a gold record for ‘Sharkmouth’ for his part in the success of the record at his Canberra show recently.
