Sam Smith is up for five Brit Awards.
The Stay With Me singer has enjoyed huge success over the past year, and was the only singer to have sold over one million records in both the US and UK in 2014.
And it seems 2015 is going to be equally successful for the 22-year-old, judging by the spate of nods he received as the nominations for the prestigious ceremony were announced on Thursday.
Sam has been recognised in the categories of British male, breakthrough artist, best album for In the Lonely Hour, British single and video of the year for his track Stay With Me.
Clearly excited about the news, Sam tweeted: ‘FIVE @BRITAwards NOMINATIONS!!!!’
But Sam faces strong competition in his categories.
If he is to take home the best British male award, Sam will have to beat Ed Sheeran, George Ezra, Damon Albarn and Paolo Nutini.
Ed and George both received a total of four nominations for this year’s awards, which take place at London’s O2 Arena on February 22.
The duo, along with Sam, will also fight it out for the best album prize, alongside Alt-J’s This Is All Yours and Royal Blood’s album.
Representing the female race, Robert Pattinson’s girlfriend FKA Twigs is up for British female solo artist.
But she also faces tough competition, as she will have to beat Ella Henderson, Paloma Faith, Lily Allen and Jessie Ware to leave victorious.
Jessie is more than a little excited about her nomination, telling the BBC News website: “It’s really reassuring as an artist, you feel like maybe you’re doing something right. Like a big old hug.’
FKA is also recognised in the breakthrough act category.
Taylor Swift, Beyonce and Lana Del Rey are all nominated for International Female Solo Artist, alongside Sia and St Vincent.
Meanwhile, Pharrell Williams and John Legend will battle for International Male Solo Artist, along with Beck, Hozier and Jack White.
