Sam Smith’s singing voice is in ‘bloody fantastic’ form following his latest medical checkup.
The 23-year-old Stay With Me singer was banned from speaking or singing after undergoing surgery on his vocal cords in May.
But he has just received the all-clear from doctors to return to the road and Sam can’t wait to perform for fans again.
‘So just want to keep everyone in the loop; I have been in Boston the last few days to have a check up on my throat, before I embark on my American tour,’ he wrote on Instagram Wednesday, attached to a black and white selfie, which saw Sam throwing up the peace sign to the camera. ‘MY THROAT IS LOOKING BLOODY FANTASTIC. So it’s amazing news. So happy. It’s going to be a really tough month of shows but I can’t wait to see you all, and pray it’s going to be a smooth ride. LET’S GO (sic).’
Due to his vocal cord haemorrhage, Sam had to cancel 21 shows which were originally part of his In the Lonely Hour Tour. These cancelled concerts were meant to take place in Australia, Japan, the Philippines, Sweden, England, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Finland, Belgium and Monaco.
Sam’s In the Lonely Hour Tour is scheduled to recommence in Louisville, Kentucky on Friday July 17. The string of concert performances will stop at more dates in the United States, Europe and Latin America before ending in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on September 26.
