Sarah Blasko will realise her new album with state orchestras around the nation next year and has released a short film.
Blasko recorded with the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra on her forthcoming fourth album I Awake, describing the experience of singing with an orchestra in her Noise11 interview as like “singing with a whale – it feels like this really peaceful, huge beast that you’re trying to stay in with”.
She also noted that “I am going to do a tour with an orchestra,” but not the Bulgarian one, saying wryly “I think we’ve got some people here who are good enough.”
And lo, it has come to pass. Blasko announced that she will be performing around the nation in February next year with symphony orchestras in each state.
Tickets go on sale next Friday 26 October, the same day that I Awake is released, from the venues (Bass for Adelaide and Ticketmaster for Perth).
There is also the installation for the album taking place in Sydney right now. She has posted a short film from the installation on YouTube featuring parts of album tracks ‘Here’, ‘I Awake’, ‘An Oyster, A Pearl’ and ‘Fool’, which is below the tour dates. Our interview is below that.
