The Count from Sesame Street is dead. Jerry Nelson, the voice of Count Von Count has died at his Cape Cod home at the age of 78.

Nelson was suffering from emphysema.
Jerry Nelson joined Sesame Street in 1970 although his first job with The Muppets dates back to 1965 when they were on the Jimmy Dean Show. He introduced The Count in 1972.
He also played Sherlock Hemlock, The Amazing Mumford and Herry Monster on Sesame Street. On The Muppet Show he was Sgt. Floyd Pepper, Dr, Julius Strangepork, Lew Zealand, Robin The Frog, Uncle Deadly and Camilla The Chicken.
On Fraggle Rock Nelson was Gobo Fraggle, Pa Gorg and Marjory the Trash Heap.
Jerry Nelson released his first album of original songs ‘Truro Daydreams’ in 2009 at the age of 75.
