Never Mind The Bollocks, released in 1977, was the only studio album released by the group, going on to be considered one of the most influential in rock history.

It immediately met with controversy over the use of the word bollocks in the title, even seeing a record store manager in the U.K. prosecuted under the Indecent Displays Control Act for putting the album in the front window.

Additional and even stronger reaction occurred over the lyrics to the songs God Save the Queen and Anarchy in the U.K. which were considered assaults on the monarchy and Britain in general.

The expanded version of the album, which will be out later this year, in celebration the albums 35th anniversary. Karen Simmonds of Universal said “To be given the opportunity to re-evaluate the Sex Pistols catalogue is every music lover’s dream. We’re looking forward to working with the band and celebrating their impact on worldwide culture.”

The one criticism I must say about Sex Pistols 2025 is that unlike 1977, we now have musicians who can play and a singer who can sing. You’ve also got to love that three guys fast approaching 70 have made their career for the past half a century out of a lyric that goes “No future for you, no future me”. As that wise old philosopher Alanis Morissette once said, “isn’t it ironic, don’t you think?”.
